Artist's Statement

I found my way to mixed media art by way of decorative painting.  After many years of reproducing pictures, patterns and textures, I longed to create with the ending unknown.  Discovering collage was the launch of a new journey.

My art is born from the words, phrases and quotes that draw me in and ellicit an emotional response that needs to be made visual.  Using handmade and recycled papers, texture mediums, acrylic paints, inks and images, I tell a story, layer by layer.  Sometimes the inspirational beginning is apparent and other times, I challenge the viewer to discover it.  In the end, my hope is that each person will uncover the meaning that speaks to them.

Prior to Art Pastiche, I owned a decorative arts business, An Angel’s Palette.  I am an artist member of the La Grange Art League, a member of the Midwest Collage Society, the National Collage Society, the International Decorative Artisans League and West Suburban Women Entrepreneurs.
